Americans United for Separation of Church & State, Oklahoma City Chapter, Announces
Legislative Preview
The Preview will begin promptly at 9:00am
Please allow ample time for arrival at the WEST Capitol entrance
(OKLAHOMA CITY) The Oklahoma City chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church & State ( http://www.au.org , http://www.okau.org ) announces its first annual Legislative Preview to be held in the Oklahoma Legislature Senate Chamber on Saturday, January 23, 2010.
The Preview will convene at 9:00am and conclude at 11:00am.
This preview of bills filed by the Oklahoma Legislature for the 2010 session beginning on February 1, will be a selection of bills deemed to be important for or threatening to the separation of church and state in Oklahoma.
Sponsors of the selected bills will be invited to speak briefly about their bills with questions from the audience encouraged.
Entry will be through the west entrance. Ample free parking and handicapped facilities are available. The public is invited to attend.
Americans United (AU) is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to preserving the constitutional principle of church-state separation as the only way to ensure religious freedom for all Americans.

ReplyDeleteBeing informed is the first step to protecting the “separation of church and state principle” in Oklahoma. There are many who oppose the principle and seek to destroy it or reduce its relevance in our state. I hope that those of you receiving this message will make a strong effort to attend the “Legislative Preview” Saturday, January 23, 2010.
If you have any difficulties with the email locations, please use the telephone numbers to gain any needed information.
A few hours on the 23rd will pay off in effective contacts with the legislators and governor during the coming session.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."
And the clause in Article VI, "...but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States." (http://www.usconstitution.net/const.html )
